Body lift surgery following major weight loss
Body lift surgery is a procedure designed to facilitate the safe reduction or elimination of excess skin and fat following major weight loss.
By major weight loss, for example, we refer to people who have undergone bariatric (weight-loss) surgery or an intensive dieting regimen to overcome obesity.
Body lift consists mainly in removing excess skin from middle sections of the body. Excess skin resulting from major weight loss can be removed with body lift surgery, particularly for areas such as the waist, tummy, buttocks, and thighs.
An in-depth consultation is needed to adjust the remodelling procedure to your specific body needs. Dr Chagnon will put forward a course of treatment that addresses your objectives.
By choosing to lose weight, people who are obese target two objectives: to improve their general well-being and enhance their appearance. Body lift surgery allows them to achieve both objectives.
Please note that body lift surgery can be performed only after you have reached a weight-loss “plateau.” In addition, your nutrition and state of health must be optimal before you can undergo body lift.
Body lift is a painless procedure since it is performed using general anesthesia. The procedure lasts about three years.
Healing requires a few weeks. You can resume your activities about a month following surgery.
